New Year, new office
New year, new office
Are you relocating your office this year?
Here’s some tips of what to look out for……
- Does the space give your business room to grow. If you are hoping to expand your business within a couple of years, look for somewhere bigger than you currently need. You can use the extra space as a breakout area until you need to turn it into offices or just extra desking space.
- Look at the natural light that comes into the space. Obviously, this depends on business to business, but if you are sitting at a desk all day, natural light can make a big difference to employee wellbeing and generally lifts the mood in an office (especially on a bright day)
- Check what fee’s you’ll need to pay on the space. Some larger buildings can have higher fees for cleaning communal areas, and general maintenance. You might be paying for a receptionist and housekeeper.
- How many members of staff will you be employing to work in that space, how many cars does that equate to? You’ll need to make sure your staff can park OK.
- Does the space have a canteen or shared kitchen or is there room to build one. Will you be able to fit a dishwasher in the space or will someone be willing to clean everything at the end of each day.

- Depending on the amount of people you employ and the job they are doing, try and think about storage requirements. If you’ve spent the money moving to a beautiful new office, you may want it to stay as tidy as possible.
- If the space you have moved into is new and empty, you could add partitioning into the space to separate it into individual offices and meeting rooms. This is something we can help with. We would meet you and discuss your requirements and how your business operates. Space planning is another service that we offer, this is important when designing a new open space. For example, if you needed a meeting room that would seat 10 people, we could show you how a rectangular table would look like in a certain sized room, with the chairs around it so you can try to visualise how much room there is to play with. Space planning also considers current lighting and electrical outputs, air conditioning units and windows.
