Christmas in the office
We all know that Christmas is around the corner, so we’ve compiled a list of how to celebrate in the office.
- Up first is Christmas Jumper day. Millions of people get involved with this now yearly, with it being held on 9th December 2022. Why not help make a bit of money for charity at the same time and ask for a contribution of £2 per person and send to Save the children.
- Host a Christmas quiz, or bingo for your team while you huddle together for food and drink in the meeting room. Invite those that work remotely and pop them on Zoom to make it as exciting as possible.
- Instead of having a Christmas party, give the money to a local charity. Talk to staff about this option first, you may find that some staff really need the money themselves and would prefer it to be given as a bonus?
- Hold your own awards ceremony. Get dressed up, open a bottle of bubbly, and make a fake red carpet for the party. This could be as serious as you’d like, add in fun awards such as ‘worst tea and coffee maker in the office award’, ‘Best laugh award’ etc.
- Wait for summer to host the big party and do a smaller Christmas party. If your business is busy at Christmas time, this might play to your advantage. Throw and big party in the summer with bouncy castles, buckaroo, prosecco carts, BBQ station – go all out! Your staff will love you for it!
- Work at a fitness company, get active and run a competition of the most miles walked in a year, or best GPS Christmas drawing. What a great way to eat more mince pies and chocolates.
- Cocktail making class. This one can be done virtually too! Ship out boxes to those that can’t make the office party and need to join in virtually, they can join in making the cocktails and having the banter with colleagues over zoom.
- Instead of a party buy your team members gifts, House items, restaurant vouchers or even an extra day’s holiday for 2023 would go down very well!
- Take your team out to a workshop, join in with macrame, wreath making or pottery painting.
- Give them an afternoon off to watch Christmas movies, we know Elf is everyone’s favourite (or is it?) drop of a goodie bag at their house with popcorn, a personalised popcorn bowl and sweets.
- Create an office Christmas party playlist. Spotify or amazon music should be your best friend around Christmas time. Make sure you don’t listen to the same Christmas songs on repeat on the radio and create your own playlist.
- Gift a training day. Let your staff chose which training course they would love to go on in 2023. There’s nothing better than a workforce that have a passion to work and learn. Give them a budget and let book onto the best course for them.
- Why not host your own murder mystery. ‘Sarah has been killed in the boardroom with a fountain pen’ give your team a character they need to play out for the day to uncover the murderer.
- Ask your staff what they’d like to do for Christmas. Create something where you can message anonymously to get their ideas. You might find the quieter people in the office have the best ideas!
- Bring your pet to work day! Pets love Christmas too, let’s celebrate them!
