The Situation

Howmet Aerospace based on the Meridian Business Park in Leicester approached Leicester Office Furnishers to help ‘glow-up’ their reception and meeting room areas. Their current reception area was not giving their visitors the professional, smart first impression that they were wanting to create, and their meeting space was one large room which they were wanting to split into two separate rooms. One of the rooms was to be the larger boardroom space to be used predominantly when they had visitors and larger meetings going on, the smaller meeting room was to be used more for internal meetings and smaller gatherings/one-on-one meetings.

The Client’s Requirements

Howmet approached Leicester Office Furnishers as commercial refurbishment specialists, wanting some interior design ideas and solutions on how they could make their current relatively uninspiring boardroom into a more functional, practical and professional meeting space and their reception into a more welcoming, crisp environment.

Our Commercial Refurbishment Solution

Howmet Aerospace’s requirements were more than just a visual design upgrade, they required more considered solutions for their TV, power and video conferencing and actually how the space was going to work long-term.

Bespoke built-in storage/presentation units were installed which allowed equipment to be kept neat and tidy yet also remain easily accessible. A separate coffee/drinks station was installed which speeds up the refreshment service as well as allowing a greater quantity of people to be accommodated at any one time.

The boardroom table was supplied with lift-out tiles to make the power within the table easily accessible without the need for rummaging around for a power source and the outdated meeting chairs were replaced with contemporary cantilever framed meeting chairs in a black fabric.

The overall look and design of the boardroom and meeting room were upgraded with a wooden slat wall feature in each room which added warmth and interest to both spaces, Howmet Aerospace signage was added to the boardroom to help emphasise that crisp, professional look.

The reception area followed a similar theme to the boardroom/meeting room refurbishment by using the same colour scheme and also incorporating the slat wall feature however a dark grey slat wall was used for the reception refurbishment.

A bespoke signing in unit was built and lockers were included with planters on top to add some colour and interest, soft seating was included for waiting visitors and recess units were used for displaying certificates.

What The Refurbishment Meant to Howmet Aerospace

Howmet Aerospace can now host visitors and be proud to welcome them to their offices and meeting spaces. A professional first impression is achieved instantly on walking through the reception doors, it was important to Howmet to ensure visitors knew where they were straightaway and that is now clear with the new signage mounted on the slat wall. There is a dedicated stand for signing-in and a comfortable space to sit should it be required.

Meeting’s are now easier to host with neat and tidy power/IT access and refreshments can be made without the need to leave the room. Both the boardroom and the meeting room are pleasant spaces to be in with no need to blur the background when on video calls!
